JB Brew Supplies was formed in 2009, by proprietor Justin Bumpstead.

Justin has always had a keen interest in home brewing, but it wasn't until he started moving into the more complex areas such as All Grain brewing and Kegging, that he realised there was quite a market gap in Australia.

"If you look at a country such as the USA and the products that home brewers from that area have available to them, it's really quite poor whats on offer here in Australia" said Justin speaking to a fellow home brewer. It was with those words that the idea for JB Brew Supplies was formed.

JB Brew Supplies aims to achieve two things:

1. To further the hobby of home brewing, and to support the home brewing community, by offering reasonably priced home brew supplies, and by passing on the knowledge that Justin has picked up from fellow home brewers along the way, and;
2. To seek out and supply to Australian home brewers products that would not otherwise be readily available to home brewer's here in Australia.

"The second point is our our point of difference from other home brew stores" says Justin. "Take our Crank and Stein Grain Mills for instance, for a home brewer wanting one of these, their only option is to buy directly from the States and the shipping alone makes it cost prohibitive". "What we aim to do is negotiate with these suppliers, import the goods in reasonable quantities, and then give Australian home brewers a chance to purchase these goods here in Australia from an Australian company with minimal hassle.".

With a view to achieving these two goals JB Brew Supplies Pty. Ltd. was incorporated, and work began finding suppliers and products that hadn't yet been available here in Australia.

It became apparant very quickly that the home brew industry is very competitive, and the margins are not large. With that in mind, Justin decided that he would run his business online, being available to chat with customers on the phone should they need any help. "I decided on an online business to keep our overheads down. That will help us to pass on our best possible prices to our customers". "I still believe that customer service is very important and I am committed to being available via email and phone to help customers with any questions they may have". "Just because you are an online business, doesn't mean that you can't have a good relationship with your customers".

Justin acknowledges that some other suppliers may have larger product ranges, but doesn't want JB Brew Supplies to follow this path. JB Brew Supplies is committed to stocking high quality equipment, aimed at the more experienced home brewer, especially products that aren't seen here in Australia often.

"JB Brew Supplies, won't ever be your one stop home brew shop, we will concentrate on supplying high quality products, to what we think is a niche market".
